Patras is the largest city in the Peloponnese and the third largest in Greece, after Athens and Thessaloniki. The city has a rich and long history, at least four millennia, while the area has been inhabited since prehistoric times. During the Roman period, the city flourished and Patras emerged as a cosmopolitan center of the Mediterranean. Patras together with the rest of Achaia were the primary revolutionary centers of the country during the period of the Greek Revolution. 1821 and the region played a very important role in the national liberation struggle.
There we will worship the Holy Monastery of Agios Andreas of Patras. The Holy Temple is a Christian basilica on the west side of the center of Patras. Along with the next older church of Agios Andreas, are an important pilgrimage destination for Christians from all over the world. In a mountain, verdant location, about 15 kilometers away from Patras, is the historic monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin, known as Oblo Monastery. The monastery was founded in 1315 by the monk Joachim where he and two of his disciples built the first cells, at the place where there was already a small church of the Virgin. The monastery today is for men and celebrates on 21 November. The route ends with an overnight stay in Nafpaktos, passing by the Rio bridge- Antirriou put into operation the 2004. Nafpaktos is a seaside town of Etoloakarnania in the Gulf of Corinth. It is built between Antirrio and the mouth of the river Mornos. The well-preserved castle on the hill with the pine forest behind the city. Gathering at the predetermined point and departure for Patras, where we will worship at the Holy Temple of Agios Andreas.
