Serbia occupies an area known for its demographic diversity in interconnected cultures. It has many religious monuments dating back to the period of the Serbian Empire. Orthodox religious monuments are mostly from the time of the Nemanjic dynasty.. Many of these buildings still exist today and are an important part of the tradition and cultural and historical heritage of medieval Serbia..
Through this religious heritage one can better understand what kind of life people had in those days and what was their attitude towards religion and the church. The monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church are divided into a number of separate exarchates.. A sacred place where Orthodoxy has flourished for centuries.
