Starting from Bucharest, the bustling capital of Romania, we will travel deep into the heart of the great ranges of the Carpathian Mountains, we will cross the Transalpina as we encounter World Heritage buildings and the Horezu Monastery in the old Saxon regions of Transylvania. Here we will visit the beautifully preserved city of Sibiu and spend time among the untouched rural villages of Maramureş, before crossing the Carpathian Mountains once again heading for the famous painted monasteries of Bucovina. In Moldova, we enjoy traditional Romanian cuisine and discover the myths that are "soaked" in the blood of vampires ,of Sighişoara and Bran, before we take a horse ride around the fascinating UNESCO treasures of Viscri. Before we return to Bucharest, we have the opportunity to explore a small part of old Brasov in the city center, which hosts some of the most important medieval monuments of the country.

The center of Romania's cultural and artistic development for centuries, Bucharest, it hosts a rich combination of classical architecture, art nouveau and communist architecture including among its other impressive landmarks, the "People's House". The largest parliament in the world, which was built during the reign of Nicolae Ceausescu, this massive structure houses the country's Senate and House of Representatives, three museums as well as the world's largest international convention center. Then follows a visit to the Anteneum passing by the Arc de Triomphe and the Greek church, reminiscent of the Parthenon. Finally we will visit the Palaces of the Royal Family. Return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Leaving the city this morning we head north, towards Oltenia and the imposing mountains of the Carpathians. Our first visit will be to the World Heritage site of Chorezos, whose 17th-century monastery and traditional ceramics have been recognized by UNESCO. There we will tour the impressive Brancovenesc Monastery and a local pottery workshop. Afterwards, a visit to the historic village of Maldaresti will take place, before concluding our journey in the impressive accommodation of a mansion 300 years.

Crossing the southern Carpathian Mountains today we travel along the famous King's Road, or as it is more commonly known, the Transalpina (it depends on the weather and the date). Going up to 2.000 meters, this is the country's highest paved road with a panoramic view of Transylvania. Weather permitting, we will take a short walk among the high valleys of the Parang mountains, before driving down to the shepherd villages of Jina and Poiana Sibiului and then to our final stop in Sibiu.

Walking along the banks of the Cibin River, Sibiu provides one of the highlights of our trip. One of the most important cultural centers of the country, hosts some of the best-preserved historical monuments in Romania and the 2007 designated as the "European City of Culture". Before we depart for the impressive Turda salt mines and its wine cellars "the salt mine", we will have some free time for a last walk around the city. In the late afternoon we will arrive in Cluj for an overnight stay.

After a morning tour of Cluj, the unofficial capital of Transylvania, we continue by road north to Maramures. A city known for its beautiful UNESCO wooden churches and colorful traditional dress, this is Romania at its most traditional and enchanting. Stopping at Breb, which is considered one of the most authentic fairy tale villages of Maramures, we will enter a world full of customs and folklore of its medieval past, a world that writer William Blacker once described as "a country frozen in time". We will have time in the late afternoon to explore the village on foot and enjoy the dinner prepared with love at our guest house.

The colorful tombstones of Merry Cemetery and the delightful artworks at Ion Stan Patras, is one of the most unique sights in Romania. Based in the village of Sapan dating back to its decade 1930, where a local artist began to sculpt his first decorative crosses. Departing Breb this morning we drive first to the Orthodox village of Ieud, where we will visit the oldest wooden church in Romania. Then, we cross the Carpathian Mountains through the Prislop mountain pass, heading to the neighboring province of Bucovina with its UNESCO painted monasteries. This afternoon we will visit the 17th century Gothic and Byzantine wonders of the Sucevita Monastery, one of the last of its kind painted in the famous Moldavian outdoor iconography style. We spend another night in a traditional homestay, δοκιμάζοντας την τοπική κουζίνα, σε ένα υπέροχο αγροτικό περιβάλλον.

Θα ξεκινήσουμε μια περιήγηση στην πόλη και το βράδυ θα έχουμε ελεύθερο χρόνο.

Σήμερα το πρωί θα μεταφερθούμε στο κοντινό χωριό Bran, όπου βρίσκεται το εντυπωσιακό κάστρο Bran. Χτισμένο τον 14ο αιώνα και ανακαινισμένο τον 19ο αιώνα από τη ρουμανική βασιλική οικογένεια, το κάστρο έχει από καιρό συσχετιστεί με τη διάσημη δημιουργία του Bram Stoker, Count Dracula. Επιστρέφοντας στο Brasov σήμερα το απόγευμα, θα υπάρχει ελεύθερος χρόνος πριν το τελευταίο μας δείπνο στο χωριό, σε τοπικό εστιατόριο.

Μετά από λίγο ελεύθερο χρόνο, σήμερα το πρωί επιστρέφουμε προς το Βουκουρέστι, ακολουθώντας την εντυπωσιακή κοιλάδα Prahova μέσω των απόκρημνων βουνών. Μια σύντομη στάση στο Azuga παρέχει την ευκαιρία να επισκεφθείτε τα κελάρια του επίσημου προμηθευτή αφρώδους οίνου για τα μέλη της βασιλικής οικογένειας, με μεσημεριανό γεύμα και οινογνωσία.
